Anger

Source: goo.gl via Minerva on Pinterest Anger is an interesting thing to watch. Moreso, when that person is non-verbal. Actions, I have found, often speak more than words. Take this afternoon for example: Ryley, who was my non-violent child, brought over a book for me to read. He often does this, as it is his way of asking to be read to. I was busy cooking tea and told him to wait. He pushed the book into my leg. I told him to wait. He threw the book as far as he could throw it and threw himself on the floor at my feet. He then proceeded to try and pull me down to the floor. And then there was another example. Probably not even 10 minutes later, he went into where Braeden was happily creating things out of boxes. Ryley decided he wanted one of the boxes and snatched it off Braeden. Braeden protested, naturally, and grabbed it back. Ryley picked it up and tried to break it, discovered he couldn't, so threw it. To be honest, I have never seen Ryley act l...

Sensory stuff

Do you like my diagram? I drew it myself. Ha! Not really. I just liked it really because it shows how many sensory points there are within our bodies. My Occupational Therapist friends will probably yell at me for posting a stupid diagram.  But I really want to somehow show people how Ryley's body seems to be at the moment. He is so ticklish at the moment, that changing him and dressing is even more difficult than it was before. He is seeking out deep pressure and wants to wrestle and roll over me as soon as he gets home from school. Partly, I think that is him unwinding himself from a busy day (most of us just prefer to sit and stare at the TV, go for a walk, or have a stiff drink (or is that one just me?). And partly I think his body is changing a bit. He seems to be able to feel things more at the moment. For example if he slightly bumps himself, he screws his face up as if to say "that hurt". He seems to have more awareness of his body and how it works too. He watches...

Can haz something finished.

So we all know Blogger has some...er...technical issues this week. I will blame them for my lack of posts. Ok? Actually, I wouldn't have had time really anyway. I am currently busy organising our major fundraising event for the WHS conference. So, I will plug it at some stage here on the blog. But if you follow BlogaboutaBloke on FB you would have already seen me plug it. But this post is about the most amazing thing in the world. Well, maybe not the most exciting thing (it's not about someone coming in and cleaning my house for me), but it is close enough. We have actually finished some of our renovations. Now don't all fall over. I know. It is fairly unbelievable. But, it's true. A little while ago we decided to start yet another project to add to the list of about 100 projects we have going at the moment. We decided to tear our front study apart and make it into Ryley's room. That way, the kids could start spending more time in their own spaces rat...
