A Blog About a Bloke-Living with WHS

I feel like I have been writing this post in my head forever. Although it has only been a week since the conference! All the organisation, the planning, the anxiety...and just like a wedding, it was all over in the blink of an eye. I truly have no idea where to start in terms of writing this blog post. Do I start by telling you about the extraordinary families who made their way to our town? Do I start by explaining how Dr John Carey and his wife Leslie will always hold a special place in my heart? Should I just fill this post with photos? Perhaps I could write about the generosity of the volunteers, the people that helped me make this all happen? I think I might just start by saying that I can't believe that it is all over! For two years this conference has taken up a very large space in our lives. The planning and the fundraising and the making it all come together. As someone who has some anxiety issues (that would be me by the way), I still sometimes can't believe...

Have you noticed I haven't been here for a while? Some people did notice actually. Thanks! Ryley has been sick, and then he got better and twisted his ankle. So it has been a long few weeks really. But his foot was better today, in that, he is able to walk on it at least. So onwards and upwards. It can only get better from here. Er...right? As you all know, our family is hosting the Australian Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome Support Group's next conference. Which is in November this year!! We are busy fundraising at the moment and are hoping to raise enough money to pay for Dr John Carey to come out from the US. Our major fundraiser is going to be July 23rd and will be a trivia/auction night. We have already had some wonderful businesses who have donated goods and services, but need a lot more. You may notice a little widget I have placed on the right hand side of this blog. I have been getting emails from people wondering if they can donate money to the conference and I have finally figured out a safe and secure way for people to make donations if they like. If there are readers out there that would like to make a donation but would prefer to get a tax invoice, please contact me via email ( dridans@hotmail.com ) so that I can arrange that through the Australian WHS Support Group. I would like to say a huge thanks to the people who have already donated. Our major fundraiser is in the process of being organised right now and more details soon on where and what that will be!!
